Thybris Aqua

Born of the sea, these wolves are a very interesting race of lupine. They have coats that are made up of almost pure water, threaded into protective strands over their bodies and taking on the colors of many a "normal" wolf for camouflage when on land. Their paw pads are usually a little bit sticky to help in traversing both land and sea, and their bodies are, unsurprisingly, waterproof. Of course, they have gills in order to breathe underwater. What really makes this race unique, however, is the beautiful luminescence that floods their bodies, usually in patterns marked on their bodies. This bioluminescence, the signature trait of the race, is typically of the same hue as their eyes, and can most often be seen on or near the darkest part of their coat.

On the history of the race, the Thybris Aqua are known to have originated in an oceanic territory of Vanguard, known as Colonessa, as its original and current occupiers. In order to save their families and friends from a severe conflict should earth and sea collide in battle, the growing clan of Thybris called a council and decided upon a clan head- a kind wolf with a good disposition and good power in hunting and mental ability. This wolf became the original king of Colonessa, and much prosperity for the clan came under his rule. As of the third king of Colonessa, the prospering country began to see reason in spreading out from Colonessa, giving them chance for adapting to other areas and learning more of the land folk. This is how they have come to join up with various factions, for each their own reasoning, and intermingle somewhat with the wolves on land.

As for the wolves themselves, certain distinct eye/luminescence colors and marking patterns began to surface, some rather common and others hardly seen. Typically, a Thybris or Thybris hybrid will have the same marking in many places on their coats, or that single marking takes up (or is spread over) a majority of the coat. Multiple bioluminescent markings isn't common, considered to be a pretty rare appearance. Below, you will see a chart of which traits you will find most common, as well as the rarest:

Courtship of the Thybris Aqua typically involves community involvement, the closer the Thybris is to the clan at Colonessa, the more likely it is for it to be expected for them to expose or expound their mated state to the clan. The Thybris Aqua do, however, easily hybridize, with gills being the most hereditary feature, followed by luminescent patterns/patterns the color of their eyes, and finally the water coats are the least likely feature to hybridize.

The Thybris Aqua royalty, though still considered royal and deferred to as each individual may, may change to any Thybris Aqua line should the vast majority of the clan chose a new leader, even from a different family line. This makes the Thybris royalty somewhat similar to a pack Alpha, only on a larger scale.
